Threshold

written by
Mary L. Ross

You come toward me, in this story line.

You take my attention.  I take your hand in mine.

And we roam through the cities, the mountains, the towns.

Sometimes we can’t let go of what brings us down.

And, ohhh how I love you.

And, all that it means.

Every time we cross another threshold in this life together,

Of what’s seen and unseen; seen and unseen.

We had a baby; the apple of eyes.

Beloved and perfect and full of surprise.

Well the years the run past.  We jump hurdles, we race.

And try to hold fast to the form of his face.

And, ohhh how I love you.

And, all that it means.

Every time we cross another threshold in this life together,

Of what’s seen and unseen, seen and unseen.

Now I’m in the kitchen, and you’re payin’ bills.

I’m tending this broke heart and tryin’ to fill it

With birds at the feeder.  Snow in the yard.

Then you’re by my side and it’s not quite so hard.

And ohhh how I love you.

And all that it means.

Every time we cross another threshold in this life together,

Of what’s seen and unseen, seen and unseen.  (repeat refrain)
